HARRISBURG – Sen. Dan Laughlin (R-49) announced the approval of several significant projects in Erie County through the Act 13 Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program.
“I am thrilled to see these projects receive the funding they need,” said Laughlin. “These investments will enhance our quality of life, improve our recreational spaces and protect our natural resources in Erie County.”
Asbury Woods will receive $64,384 to update and expand its trail network, enriching the beloved community resource that connects residents with nature and outdoor activities.
The Edinboro Legion Pool will be allocated $29,768 for much-needed renovations, ensuring this vital recreational and social gathering space remains a cornerstone for community enjoyment.
Pleasant Ridge Park will benefit from $125,000 to construct new pickleball courts, offering residents of all ages an exciting recreational opportunity that promotes active lifestyles and community connections.
The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy will be awarded with $113,082 to address invasive species in the region, safeguarding local ecosystems and preserving native biodiversity for future generations.
“These projects demonstrate our commitment to building vibrant, sustainable communities,” said Laughlin. “I’m grateful for the support of the Commonwealth Financing Authority in helping me to prioritize Erie County’s needs.”
The Act 13 Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program is funded through impact fees collected from Pennsylvania’s oil and gas producers, ensuring that communities benefit directly from the state’s natural resources. The funding was distributed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which was established in 2004 as an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development to administer the commonwealth’s economic stimulus packages.
