The City of Erie and the Erie Redevelopment Authority were awarded Keystone Communities Program grants totaling $379,251 by the state Department of Community & Economic Development, according to Senator Dan Laughlin.
The Erie Redevelopment Authority received $150,000 for blight reduction and the City of Erie was awarded $229,251 for the West 8th Street Anchor Buildings Project. The local awards are part of 41 grants totaling $5 million awarded statewide in the current round of funding.
“This is good news for all local residents,” Senator Laughlin said. “These grants which will reduce blight and reinvigorate our city are long-term investments in Erie and in improving the quality of life for all of its residents.”
The Keystone Communities Program is designed to encourage the creation of partnerships between the public and private sectors that jointly support local initiatives such as the growth and stability of neighborhoods and communities; social and economic diversity; and a strong and secure quality of life. The program allows communities to tailor the assistance to meet the needs of its specific revitalization efforts.
