State Senator Dan Laughlin issued the following statement on the swearing-in of James Brewster today (January 13) to represent the 45th Senatorial District.
“I want to offer my congratulations and sincere best wishes to Jim Brewster. He has served the people of his district well in the past and I fully expect that he will maintain those high standards. The delay in swearing him in was minimal, yet proper and prudent. There were major questions and concerns about the certification of a winner in the 45th District, especially considering the razor thin difference in votes each candidate received and by the way the two counties counted their votes. The question was resolved by yesterday’s court ruling and I applaud Senate Leadership for acting appropriately and expeditiously in response to that decision.”
