State Senator Dan Laughlin was sworn into office today (January 5) during a ceremony in the Senate Chamber of the State Capitol to begin his second term representing the 49th Senatorial District. Video of the ceremony.
In response to the COVID pandemic, the traditional Swearing-In Day festivities were substantially scaled back this year. Only a minimal number of guests were permitted on the Senate Floor and in the Senate Gallery for the ceremony and the usual television viewing areas in the Capitol Complex were closed.
“It is truly an honor to serve and represent the people of the 49th District in the Senate,” Senator Laughlin said. “The challenges facing Pennsylvania in 2021 are dramatically different on many levels from those we addressed when I first entered the Senate four years ago. We must recover and heal in many ways now. Rebuilding Pennsylvania’s economy and getting people back to work must be our top priority as we move past the chaos created by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
