Senator Dan Laughlin applauded the Department of Health’s announcement today regarding universal testing strategy for nursing home residents and staff. In an April 22 letter to the Governor, Senator Laughlin called for weekly COVID-19 testing of employees at nursing homes and extended care facilities.
“With more than two-thirds of Pennsylvania’s COVID-19 deaths involving nursing homes or long-term care facilities, universal testing is a prudent step,” Senator Laughlin said. “This has been delayed for too long as it is. It is time that all possible steps are taken to identify and quickly treat any potential COVID-19 cases in those facilities.”
