Eight local school systems were today (August 7) awarded $235,761 in state Continuing of Education Equity Grants (CEEG) to provide them with additional resources to help students succeed, according to Senator Dan Laughlin.
The local schools awarded CEEG grants for the 2020-21 academic year are:
- Erie City School District………………………. $45,000
- Erie Rise Leadership Academy Charter School ………….. $18,000
- Girard School District……………………… $45,850
- Iroquois School District……………………… $37,850
- Montessori Regional Charter School………….. $14,800
- North East School District………….. $18,511
- Northwestern School District………….. $31,500
- Perseus House Charter School of Excellence………….. $24,250
CEEG grants are designed to help students who are currently limited in their ability to participate in continuity of education. The grants may be used to purchase computer equipment (laptops, tablets, and internet hot spots) or instructional materials, such as paper lessons and coursework. Schools with the highest percentages of students lacking access to resources were prioritized for these grants.
“I strongly support quality education programs and especially initiatives such as CEEG that ensure all students have access to the resources they need to be successful in the classroom,” Senator Laughlin said. “The money we invest in the education of our young people today will pay huge dividends to our communities and Pennsylvania overall economic wellbeing in the future.”
