Self-employed individuals, contractors and others impacted by COVID-19 closures who are not eligible for regular unemployment compensation (UC) can now file for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA), according to Senator Dan Laughlin.
The PUA program provides weekly payments ranging from $195 to $572 for up to 39 weeks. Applications can be submitted online at https://pua.benefits.uc.pa.gov/vosnet/Default.aspx. Individuals collecting PUA benefits will also be eligible for the extra $600 per week from the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation program.
The program is open to individuals impacted by COVID-19 including: self-employed; independent contractors; gig workers; those without sufficient work history to qualify for regular UC; and, those who have exhausted regular UC or extended benefits.
