The Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) today (March 26) awarded a $300,000 state Multimodal Transportation Funding grant to Fairview Township, Erie County, according to Senator Dan Laughlin.
Fairview Township will use the funding to improve sidewalks along Route 98. The project includes sidewalks and curb ramps from Canal Road to south of Toby Court, from Canal Road to Hemlock Court, and from Toby Court to Chestnut Street. A flashing beacon pedestrian crossing system will be installed at the Canal Road and Route 98 intersection.
“This is good news for pedestrians in that area,” Senator Laughlin said. “I was pleased to work with Senator Joe Scarnati and the CFA to secure this funding. Grants that Pennsylvania provides for the enhancement of our communities are long-term investments that enhance the region’s quality of life and attractiveness for future economic development.”
